Growing in molds adds a new dimension allowing you to transform gourds into various patterns & shapes. Square watermelons are great, but once eaten you are left with a rind & a few seeds. With gourds the result will be a novelty that can be passed from one generation to the next.

Northern Dipper molds were developed for the white egg gourd variety. These are not a hard-shelled gourd, but an ornamental variety. They flower during the day, which reduces pollination problems. They're generally uniform in shape and size, and if dried properly, they'll last for many years.
